What is Monsplasty?

A monsplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that is designed and performed to change the appearance of a bulging mons pubis area. The mons is the area of fatty, fleshy tissue that covers and protects the pubic bone. A monsplasty can change the amount of this skin or fatty tissue present, offering a more desired appearance.

How does Monsplasty performed?

The monsplasty procedure is minimally invasive and is not a lengthy procedure. The procedure is done by using a form of mons pubis liposuction on that area to remove excess fatty tissue from the area, and then having the area trimmed of excess skin, sculpted, lifted, and tightened to create a more appealing and desirable appearance.

After the required anesthesia or sedation is given, a small incision is made right below the naval and the top of the mons pubis. The muscles are raised up and tightened, and excess skin is then removed, allowing the remaining skin to be pulled taut into its new and lifted position.

Are You A Candidate for Monsplasty?

A prime candidate for monsplasty in Baltimore and Annapolis area is a woman who is embarrassed or encumbered by her pubic mons. She should be in otherwise good health, within a normal weight range and physically active. It is best to wait until all pregnancies are completed before undergoing a monsplasty, as positive results can be diminished through subsequent pregnancies. Of course, having realistic expectations for the plastic surgery is also important.

You’re a Candidate for Monsplasty,
  • Uncomfortable with the size or appearance of the mons pubis.
  • Getting work done around the vulva and vagina and would like to include the mons pubis in your cosmetic procedure.
  • Have an excessively sagging mom pubis because of recent weight fluctuations or pregnancy.
  • Want to lift and tighten the region to reverse the effects of age and childbirth.
  • Physically healthy (non-smoker)

What to Expect After the Monsplasty Procedure During Recovery?

After a monsplasty procedure, the recovery time is generally short, lasting from 3 days to 7 days. The pain is typically minimal for a few days, although you can expect a dull ache or slight pain to be present. Swelling and slight bruising are common and not a cause for concern. Physical activity should remain light for up to three weeks after the procedure is done, or until it has healed and you are given clearance from the doctor. Sexual activities can usually be resumed between three and six weeks, depending on your doctor’s advice and how well you are feeling.

If you find abnormal pus, discoloration, pain, or swelling that does not subside, this can be an indicator of an infection at the incision site, and requires medical care immediately.

A mons pubis reduction is considered a permanent procedure, and the results are typically achieved in only a single treatment.
