What is PDO Thread Lift?

Thread lifts are a relatively new form of non-surgical face lift. If your face has loosening or sagging skin and you want a tighter, fresher more youthful look, this treatment may be suitable. There are no cuts or incisions, just injections.

Thread Lift is one the most effective ways to lift the loose skin without surgery. As we age, the effects of gravity become more noticeable on our faces, especially as our facial support structure weakens and we lose facial fat. The areas that are generally affected are the eyebrows, areas around the eyes, the cheeks, the jowls and the neck. The result is a longer, more square-shaped and older-looking face.

Traditionally, most people would look into plastic surgery to get a facelift as there weren’t very effective noninvasive treatments to lift the loose skin. However, now there is an effective nonsurgical option that can lift and contour and suspend the sagging tissues on the face, neck and the body, especially for those that need only minimal to moderate rejuvenation or for those that do not wish to undergo surgical intervention.

Am I a Good Candidate for PDO Thread Lift ?

For the right candidate, the Thread Lift can provide a pleasing, natural rejuvenation of the face with the benefit of no general anesthesia, rapid recovery and very minimal cost compared to a facelift or a necklift. Thread Lift may be combined with other, more minor surgical procedures, such as  Injectable Fillers, Neuromodulators, microneedling or skin resurfacing lasers.
Ideal candidates for thread lifts include:
  • People with minimal signs of aging who need just a small lift. Good candidates are those patients who are starting to see some droopiness of the brow, cheeks, jowls and/or neck and would like to see a lift effect, but do not want the risk, scars, or recovery of a real browlift, facelift, or necklift operation.
  • People who have had some relapse from a previous plastic surgery procedure such as a facelift or neck lift.
  • People who do not wish to undergo a surgical facelift or necklift for various reasons such as not wanting a prolonged recovery of a stand facelift or do not wish to spend money on an expensive facelift.
PDO Thread Lifts serves the following purposes:
  • Lifting
  • Adding volume
  • Improving texture

How Long Do the PDO Threads Last?

PDO threads will last depending on a number of factors, including the thickness of the threads, the quality of the threads and your body’s rate of metabolism. However, most of our clients find that the threads have dissolved within six to nine months.

How Soon Will I See PDO Threads Results?

Some results of the treatment, such as skin lifting and some of the contouring effects, are visible immediately after treatment. In fact, your skin may look tighter when you walk out of our office than it will a week later.

When Will I See the Final PDO Threads Results?

The final results of your PDO thread lift will be seen within one to two months of your treatment. How long it takes you personally depends a lot on your age. Your age is one of the leading factors in how quickly your body produces new, healthy collagen. Collagen is the protein responsible for plumping up your cheeks, filling in fine lines and smoothing out wrinkles.

The PDO lift threading provides instant results, with optimum results appearing after about 2-3 months. The PDO threads will stimulate your skin cells, and cause new collagen and blood vessels to form around the threads. Also, the threads cause the fat tissue to contract, tightening the skin on the face. The results of this tightening and rejuvenation process include:
  • A reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Younger and firmer-looking skin
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Improved skin tone, texture, pigmentation, and scarring
  • Increased skin metabolism
  • Activation of the lymphatic circulation
  • Brightened skin
After about 8-12 months, the PDO threads will harmlessly dissolve, but they will leave behind a prolonged rejuvenation effect that will last about 2-3 years.

How many PDO Thread Treatments Will I Need?

Most of our clients enjoy satisfactory results after just one treatment. Come in six to nine months after your first treatment so we can determine if you need a follow-up treatment. After that, you shouldn’t need another treatment for three years.

Which Treatments Complement a PDO Thread Lift Best?

The best complementary treatments to your PDO thread lift depend on the results you’re looking to achieve. If you are extremely concerned about lines and wrinkles exacerbated by facial motions, neuromodulators work best. If you’re more worried about static lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers are the perfect complement for your PDO thread lift.

What is the recovery like after a PDO Thread Lift Treatment?

Pain can be usually managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or ibuprofen (Advil). If stronger pain medicine is desired, it can be prescribed by our physician. You may have mild swelling and bruising for few days. Icing the treated area as well as arnica is recommended for the first few days. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for few days.

Is PDO Thread Lift Treatment Safe?

PDO threads have over a decade long safety track record in surgery and wound closure. PDO threads gained FDA approval.
