HYPERPIGMENTATION TREATMENT

Hyperpigmentation Treatment in Baltimore, MD

Women’s Health and Cosmetic Services of Maryland is pleased to offer hyperpigmentation treatments to the women of Baltimore, Annapolis, Glen Burnie and the surrounding Maryland communities who suffer from discoloration and dark patches on their skin.

What is Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a skin discoloration condition where patches of skin become discolored and develop dark patches creating an uneven skin tone. This occurs when melanin, the pigment that produces skin color, develops an abundance of deposits in the skin. Skin discoloration due to hyperpigmentation can develop anywhere on the body including the face, neck and hands. Hyperpigmentation is not considered to be harmful; however, many people seek skin pigmentation treatment for cosmetic reasons.

How Much Does Hyperpigmentation Treatment Cost?

The cost for hyperpigmentation treatment will depend on the type of treatment selected and the extent of treatment needed to achieve your desired results. All costs and any possible financing options will be discussed prior to treatment at your personal consultation.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

The main cause of hyperpigmentation is sun exposure. Sun damage usually appears as dark, uneven patches or spots, such as freckles, that may lighten with time but require medical attention to truly disappear.

Freckles, Birthmarks and Port Stains

Not all hyperpigmentation is a result of over exposure to the sun. Some people are born with hyperpigmentation in the form of freckles, birthmarks or port stains. These signs of hyperpigmentation are a result of a clustering of pigment cells and/or tiny blood vessels.

What Types of Hyperpigmentation Treatment Are Offered?

At Women’s Health Services we offer several different methods of skin pigmentation treatment. For minor skin pigmentation conditions, topical solutions and skin care products may be all that it takes to lessen its appearance. For more severe cases, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, lasers, and products on an ongoing basis have proven affective.
