What is IntimaLase?

IntimaLase is a new, non-surgical laser procedure to rejuvenate vaginal tissue and help improve women's sexual health. IntimaLase is effective for vulvar-vaginal atrophy which is related to loss of natural estrogen production. Some women cannot or prefer not to take estrogen and sometimes hormones are ineffective. IntimaLase is also effective at tightening the vagina due to vaginal deliveries/childbirth. The IntimaLase procedure can also be performed for treatment of urinary stress incontinence.

Vaginal laxity is common in women of any age who have had larger babies or multiple births. It can result in reduced sensation for both the woman and her partner. Excessive laxity may lead to reduced interest in intimacy and create stress in the relationship. IntimaLase tightens vaginal walls and increases collagen and elasticity to improve sensation and responsiveness. The IntimaLase procedure usually requires three treatments performed in our office about a month apart at a fraction of the cost of surgical treatment.

Benefits of IntimaLase Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginal rejuvenation treatments are non-surgical, minimally invasive treatments to tighten vaginal tissues. The gentle heat of the laser encourages collagen production and remodeling. Collagen provides tissue with structure, but production naturally decreases over time.  Benefits of choosing vaginal rejuvenation treatments may include:

  • Boosted confidence
  • Increased sexual satisfaction
  • Reduced urinary incontinence experiences
  • Tightened vaginal tissues

Vaginal laxity or relaxation impacts many women. One of the most common causes is is vaginal childbirth. However, experiencing the natural aging process and hormonal shifts from menopause may also have an effect.

The Fotona IntimaLase is a cutting-edge non surgical vaginal rejuvenation system that induces thermal effects on the targeted vaginal tissue, stimulating the vaginal mucosa to produce collagen. With greater collagen production, vaginal tissue remodels and tightens for a youthful feel. Many women have experienced a significant improvement in their sexual satisfaction and quality of life. This amazing technology also grants no downtime following your appointment, allowing you to resume your schedule immediately.

Am I a Candidate For IntimaLase Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatment?

Most healthy women who are frustrated with vaginal laxity or similar concerns may benefit from vaginal rejuvenation treatments. These non-surgical, minimally invasive treatments are most commonly recommended for women who have experienced menopause, vaginal childbirth, or both.

A consultation with our team can help you determine if this laser rejuvenation treatment is right for you and your goals. It is important to have realistic expectations for this intimate health treatment.

When can i expect to see, feel my results after IntimaLase vaginal rejuvenation procedure ?

Most patients will start feeling increased lubrication and moisture right after their treatment within the first week. Full tightening effect usually starts to occur after 4 weeks.

How often do i need IntimaLase vaginal rejuvenation treatments ?

Usual treatment schedule is every 3-4 weeks for 3 sessions. Depending on the amount of laxity in the vaginal canal some patients may need additional treatments. We recommend completing the full 3 treatment sessions in order to experience longer lasting results.

If i do only one IntimaLase vaginal rejuvenation treatment and I am happy with my results do i still need the full 3 sessions ?

We recommend our patients to complete the full 3 sessions because collagen building in the tissue and improvement in the texture is an ongoing and cumulative process. Even if you experience good tightening result in one session it is imperative to continue to build collagen in the vaginal canal with repeat treatments to achieve longer lasting results.

What is Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome?

Vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS) condition refers to the excessive stretching and subsequent loosening of the vaginal tissue and muscles. Apart from aging factors, this condition may also occur following childbirth. The physiological as well as psychological impact of VRS may include reduced sexual satisfaction among the patient as well as her sexual partner. Surgical treatments are available to address the symptoms of VRS, but many women are keen to avoid a complicated and lengthy surgical process. For such patients, Womens Health Services of Maryland provides state of the art non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatments.

What is Vaginal Laxity?

Millions of women suffer with vaginal laxity. In fact, 88% of doctors surveyed said vaginal laxity is the number one physical change occurring post vaginal delivery. Vaginal laxity often goes un-reported by their patients, and therefore untreated. 83% of doctors surveyed said vaginal laxity was underreported by their patients. Consequently, vaginal laxity can have a profound effect on a woman’s overall health and well-being. It is extremely common to experience changes in vaginal tissue with age or after childbirth, which can lead to:

  • Air passing from the vagina
  • Decreased sensation during intimacy
  • Less satisfaction from intercourse
  • Increased self-consciousness

How Does Intimalase Vaginal Rejuvenation Work?

The vaginal rejuvenation treatment experience is similar to an annual pap smear. Gentle heat is delivered directly to the treatment area. There is little to no pain associated with treatment, but you may feel mild warmth from the laser. However, controlled heating allows for the creation of consistent results and comfortable treatment experience.

Each treatment session is relatively short. There is no set downtime associated with treatment and you should be able to return to your normal daily activities. Results will vary for each person, but you may begin to experience some initial results shortly after treatment. However, the best results take some time to encourage as your body naturally produces collagen.

Many women enjoy results from just one or two vaginal rejuvenation treatment. However, additional follow-up treatments may help you achieve and maintain optimal results.

How long is IntimaLase vaginal rejuvenation treatment?

IntimaLase treatments usually take 15-25 minutes to perform depending on the contidition of the tissue of the vaginal mucosa.
