ACNE TREATMENT

ACNE Treatment in Baltimore, MD

Acne is a common skin condition caused by inflammation of the hair follicles and oil-producing (sebaceous) glands of the skin. When skin cells do not shed normally, they stick to and block the skin’s hair follicles. This traps a body oil (sebum) in the follicle, causing bacteria to multiple and acne to form.

What Is Acne?

Pimples (acne) are small swollen red bumps that result from excess oil that causes pore openings to become clogged. The openings become red, swollen, inflamed and ultimately infected. At this point, a whitehead (white pustule) develops on the top of the pimples becoming increasingly larger and more obvious. Untreated acne can get worse and, for some, leave scars as it heals.

What are Acne Treatments?

There are many acne treatments on the market that target breakouts by penetrating the pores in the skin and removing excess oil, dirt, and bacteria, decreasing the chances of reoccurring pimples. Most acne treatments prescribed by physicians are topical solutions and ointments that effectively treat this common issue. For those with more severe problems, oral medications and laser therapy are used to achieve successful results.

Benefits of Acne Treatment

  • Acne treatment controls and clears up breakouts as well as provides benefits, such as:
  • Inhibits acne scarring
  • Restores a smooth complexion
  • Little to no downtime following treatments
  • Lessens the severity of future breakouts

Who is an Ideal Candidate for Acne Treatment?

Acne affects everyone differently, which is why it is important to seek medical assistance in treating it no matter the age or severity. That’s why anyone with acne is an ideal candidate for acne treatment.

How Do I Prepare for Acne Treatment?

Topical and oral medications are typically prescribed then applied or taken at home according to the directions. For laser therapy, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure prior to your treatment as well as stop taking any blood-thinning medications or supplements that may hinder the healing process. During a consultation for laser treatments, we provide you with the necessary serums and moisturizers to prep the skin.

What Should I Expect the Day of Acne Treatment?

In-office acne treatments take place when laser treatments are used. This involves using laser energy on the affected areas to remove damaged skin. These laser treatments also stimulate collagen production, which in turn boosts new skin growth.

As for topical and oral treatments, they are prescribed and typically handled at home. It is important to follow the directions for taking or applying the acne treatment. Many prescription treatments have successful results with acne, especially when combined with the appropriate skin care products for acne prone skin.

What to Expect After Acne Treatment

Following acne treatment with laser treatments, the treated area may have slight redness that takes a few days to dissipate. There may also be some slight flaking as the redness diminishes. Once these issues resolve themselves, the skin starts to look smooth and clear.

When Will I See the Results?

Depending on the selected acne treatment, the results take some time as the current breakouts must clear up and future breakouts become less severe. As for laser treatments, the treated skin must heal, and new skin must take over. If treatments stop, acne may return to previous intensities.

ACNE TREATMENTS

How Dermalinfusion Treatments for Acne Works

This amazing acne treatment is performed using a “three-in-one tip”. It is equipped with: a diamond plate, that gently buffs away clogged pores and dry skin: a low-pressure vacuum that sucks up the dead skin, oil and gunk; and,  serum-filled chamber that infuses custom serums deep into the pores.

The tool itself is actually no wider than an inch. – which is pretty cool technology!

Aesthetician will gently apply the diamond tip across the face for about 20 minutes, while the handpiece sucks the gross stuff out of the pores, and fill them with acne fighting serum.

The process is not painful. And – unlike with most exfoliating treatments that leave your red for a day or more – there is no downtime after Dermalinfusion.

Patients will see results after their first “speed clearing” Dermalinfusion treatment – but a series of treatments will deliver even more dramatic results. The optimal number of treatments will depend on how severe and widespread the acne is. For the treatment of inflammatory acne, we typically recommend 4 to 6 treatments, spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart.

Planning Strategy

Micro Needling is a procedure that involves repeatedly piercing the skin with tiny, sterile needles (micro-needling) in order to induce endogenous production of collagen.

Unlike dermal rollers, the Micro-Needling Device uses a precisely controlled stamping method to reach a set depth while minimizing excess damage to the epidermis. It is safer and more effective than traditional skin needling because of the unique vertical needling technology.

Benefits;

  • Causes collagen remodeling
  • Enhances skin rejuvenation
  • Skin tightening and lifting
  • Acne scar / scar remodeling
  • Stretchmark improvement
  • Soothes fine lines

Minimum Downtime Acne Treatment

The laser acne scar removal process involves laser the emitting high pulses of light that converts into heat energy to break up the top layer of skin while stimulating collagen growth. This combination of actions gives the patient the best result because it results in new skin to grow in its place leaving only beautiful healthy skin. The number of treatments necessary to remove acne scars depends on the severity of the acne scars as well as the nature of the patient. On average patients require 2 to 3 treatments to remove their unwanted acne scars.

Short down time allows our Baltimore  and Annapolis area laser acne scar removal patients to get back to their normal busy lives.
