Labiaplasty - Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatment in Baltimore, MD
Labiaplasty, also known as aesthetic vaginal surgery or vaginal reconstructive surgery, is a procedure performed to reduce or reshape the lips of the vagina, known as the labia. Labia minora are the inner lips, while the outer rims are known as labia majora. The labia cover the clitoris and vaginal opening. When they are enlarged or asymmetrical, women can experience pain during intercourse or embarrassment during daily activities. What is Labiaplasty?
Is Labiaplasty Right for Me?
- WOMEN WITH A FUNCTIONAL ISSUE
- These individuals often experience pain during intercourse or while participating in activities like riding a bike or horseback riding. They may also deal with uncomfortable symptoms like chafing.
- WOMEN WITH COSMETIC CONCERNS
- Other individuals may not like the physical appearance of the vagina, due to uneven or protruding lips. This aesthetic concern may make them self-conscious in snug-fitting clothing and during intimacy with a partner.
Options in Labiaplasty
- TRIM TECHNIQUE
- During this procedure, Dr. Dinc trims away the outer edge of the labia minora to reduce possible protrusion and create a smoother, pinker edge. This technique is the least invasive and the most straightforward and can be used when minimal correction is required.
- WEDGE TECHNIQUE
- With the wedge resection, a small portion of the labia minor is removed in a wedge shape, and the edges are sutured together. In addition to removing more of the vaginal lips, this technique preserves the natural side and color of the labia minora.
- CLITORAL HOOD REDUCTION
- When there is excess tissue surrounding the clitoris, it can be difficult for a woman to become sufficiently stimulated during intercourse. This technique removes the excess tissue, exposing more of the clitoris for improved sexual function. For more information,

What to expect with Labiaplasty ?
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure with a relatively brief recovery period.
Patients are advised to avoid sexual intercourse, tampons, bicycle riding, horseback riding, and other such activities for 6 weeks after surgery to allow for proper healing. Improvement can be seen immediately, and scars fade quickly and are very discreet.
This is a surgery that is long-lasting, low maintenance, and can be life-changing for women who experience significant discomfort or sexual embarrassment due to oversized labia.
Why Might a Woman Choose Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery?
Does Labiaplasty hurt?
Labiaplasty, as an outpatient procedure (meaning you don’t stay at the hospital overnight afterward), can be done under general anesthesia or a combination of sedation and local anesthesia. The labia and vagina are sensitive areas. If you have a labiaplasty, your vulva will be sore and swollen. You can also take measures to reduce the pain such as a warm sitz bath or application of cold presses to the area to reduce swelling.

Why Would I Need Vaginal Rejuvenation after Weight Loss?
As a result of extreme weight loss, the fat in the labia majora thins out, causing the appearance of loose skin and the loss of a soft, young look. This can often be fixed by performing liposuction to remove unwanted fat somewhere else on the body and transferring that fat into the labia and the mons pubis.

How is the recovery after Labiaplasty?
Every woman will recover in her way and her own time. On average, most patients take a week off from work, depending on the type of work that you do. Plan on six weeks or so before resume your regular exercise routine and sexual activities.
It will be helpful to wear loose clothing, especially bottoms and sit on a soft pillow. You should drink plenty of water and pee in a warm shower if urination becomes too painful. Keep in mind it will be uncomfortable to urinate and sit during your recovery. Staying off your feet will help to decrease swelling.
