STRETCH MARK

LASER STRETCH MARK REMOVAL MARYLAND

DOES LASER STRETCH MARK REMOVAL WORK?

A stretch mark represents over distended and tensile loaded skin with micro fractures and collagen fractures (like stretching an elastic band), leading to white, silvery marks or red discolored marks that can be aesthetically unattractive. Stretch marks can appear red, while white ones can appear silvery and white. Obstetric patients can develop marks as a result of growth as well as weight loss/weight gain during childbearing.

Women’s Health Services of Maryland has a variety of excellent ways to treat them. First by turning them white if they are red with a whole host of red treatment lasers and then, when the stretch marks are white and hypotrophic (spread apart and silvery), treatment with a whole array of new technologies like fractional ablative and non-ablative lasers and fractional radio frequency devices combined with PRP treatments.

Pregnancy

When skin stretches faster than body can produce collagen, it causes tiny tears. When the tears heal, it leaves scars that are known as stretch marks.

Weight Gain

Stretch marks develop as the result of substantial weight gain. This most commonly occurs when the weight gain is rapid, as often happens in adolescence.

Medication

Long term use of oral or injected steroids and corticosteroid creams cause hormonal changes that may contribute to stretch marks.
